Jia Radloff (pictured on the right) was a junior at Buckeye Valley High School in Delaware, Ohio last January when she wrote to ask if she could host a 5K fundraiser for Orphan World Relief and a donation drive for My Comfy Kits. At the time, Jia was a third-year Global Scholar of the Global Scholars program run by the Columbus Council Of World Affairs. She was asked to complete a Take Action Project, where she chose an issue that she was passionate about to create a project to raise awareness in the community.
Jia chose the issue of global adoption because she was adopted from China when she was 15-months-old, and her sister was also adopted from China at the age of 5. Jia said that she remembered putting together a backpack full of items that her sister could call her own, and her sister still has many of these items today.
The Adoption Awareness Run and donation drive was hosted by Jia at her school in March of 2020. Jia raised a whopping $2,700, plus many, many donations for our baby Comfy Kits! We have been so impressed with this young lady, and we appreciate all of her hard work and dedication to help kids here and around the globe!
Jia will be attending The Ohio State University this fall with a major in Civil Engineering!! She is hoping to get involved with Engineers Without Borders and make an impact globally. Thank you and congratulations, Jia!!
