Our February Spotlight is shining bright on The Read to Succeed Foundation!
“The Read to Succeed Foundation was created 7 years ago by Emily Spector. At age 12, Emily had a growing awareness of the world around her and was deeply saddened to hear the number of children in Columbus living in poverty, without books of their own. She decided to take the initiative to make a difference, and the Read to Succeed Foundation was born.
The Read to Succeed Foundation strives to enable children to escape the cycle of poverty by providing them with books, allowing them to build confidence in their reading skills, succeed in school, and have a world of characters to turn to in times of stress.
Emily and the other leaders at the Foundation collect donations of new and gently used books ranging from infant to high school, organize and label them in specific categories and reading levels, collaborate with program leaders, make deliveries to food pantries and other organizations to create mini-libraries and complete many initiatives that help underprivileged children succeed.”
On January 18, 2021, My Comfy Kits was blessed to receive our first donation from the Read to Succeed Foundation! Eve, Emmett, and Juliet (ages 14, 14 and 11) are 3 of the 8 leaders at the Read to Succeed Foundation. They (with the help of Darcy the puppy
) donated 234 books to My Comfy Kits!
